My Story

Hi Everyone!

My name is Malousak! I am the Mama behind From Embryo to Mama. I will be completely honest with you straight off the bat.

I started this brand as a way to make passive income. But it evolved into something much bigger. I had no idea that there were so many SMBC mothers out there! The community I found through this brand has been so surprising and healing. This website will include blog posts, answers to Q&As, and any helpful links and resources that I can provide.

Now, a little about the story behind how I became a SMBC. When I was 25, I was actually engaged. There was nothing seriously wrong with him. He was my best friend from high school and we reconnected after university. But to be honest, we should have just stayed friends. We weren’t compatible and I felt that I was rushing to check the marriage box off my life list. I had to sit down and get honest with myself. I didn’t want to get married. I was always happier single. So then I started to plan a different version of my life. I always wanted to be a Mama. But I just didn’t want the husband part.

So I broke off my engagement. Lived my life on my own terms. I partied for another decade, traveled all over the world, got a secondary degree, started a new career. Then the ticking of that biological clock got a little louder in my ear each year.

So in November 2023 I traveled to Denmark from California. I was 35 when I saved my first blastocysts. In July 2024, I had my first transfer which resulted in a miscarriage at 8 weeks. In October 2024, I did another egg retrieval and saved more blastocysts. I wanted multiple kids and I only had one blastocyst saved from November 2023. So I decided to try to save more while I was still young. In November 2024, I did my second transfer. In August 2025, my son was born.

And somewhere between that positive pregnancy test and bringing my son home, I had what still feels like one of the craziest delivery stories I have heard to date. I am definitely not saying that for bragging privileges. I wish more than anything that my delivery had been boring and uneventful.

I will talk about that experience here too. I will talk about how my miscarriage affected my anxiety throughout my second pregnancy. I will talk about my delivery and postpartum recovery. I will also talk about the ways I feel the healthcare system failed me and how those experiences changed the way I look at healthcare and advocating for myself.

I am the type of Mama that likes to stay honest, look for healthy versions of all products, read all my ingredients, and make all my son’s food homemade. So if you are into that sort of thing great, you are in the right place. If you ever have any questions about IVF, being a SMBC, motherhood or anything please let me know. I will continue to document my journey through my blog on here as well.

Thank you for being here! 🤍
