Q&A: Solo Motherhood, IVF & Denmark Clinics
This is where I answer your real questions about becoming a Single Mom by Choice, IVF, Denmark, pregnancy, motherhood, and everything in between. Everything here comes from my own experience, shared as honestly as I can.
But your kids won’t have a dad?
This is the question that I got the most when I started this and was telling people about it.
Before I answer this, I want to acknowledge that this is just my personal point of view as a Single Mom by Choice. Other parents and donor-conceived people may feel differently, and that’s okay.
My answer has always been the same: a lot of people don’t have dads.
I remember taking cognitive psychology as an undergrad. One of the biggest points was how hard divorce is on children’s cognitive development. So my theory is that my kids might miss out on having a dad. But they also won’t ever know the feeling of losing a father.
My son also has my dad, who is absolutely obsessed with him. So I don’t think he is really lacking a father figure.
